For each and every client who walks through my door, I wish for them complete and total relaxation. I would like to think that, in addition to the physical and therapeutic benefit of massage, I’m also providing an opportunity for you to leave your busy life behind … to empty your mind of your work and family life and simply focus on YOU.

It’s all part of my philosophy about living in the present. When I’m giving massages, I’m living purely in the moment for my clients. I’m not thinking about the past and I’m not worried about the future. I can’t change either of those. I simply live in my massage studio and give the best massage I can.

When I want to keep focused in the moment – whether I’m with a client, visiting with friends, or preparing a meal – I turn off my cell phone. I see so many people (clients included) allow themselves to get pulled out of the present by a ringing cell phone. Now I know what you’re thinking: who would answer their cell phone during a massage?

Well, you don’t have to answer your cell phone to get distracted by it. One client’s phone vibrated several times during a massage. Thankfully, he didn’t answer it. But I knew that he could not fully relax in the moment knowing that voice mails were piling up. Alas, complete and total relaxation was not in the cards for him that day.

My point is this: I think many of us invite worry into our lives because we don’t know how to live in the present. So I urge you to practice! Go for a walk in the woods. Prepare a special meal. Read poetry and linger over every word. (Oh, and leave your cell phone off.)
